Smallest of the ELCOROCK® containers, the 0.35m3 are generally used on inland protection works, stream protection and small onshore structures in very mild climates and conditions. These containers typically weigh 500-700kg.
These containers are used typically in sea walls, groyne structures in mild conditions, emergency works and temporary structures due to their versatility and rapid construction. These containers typically weigh 1,400-1,600kg.
The largest of the mechanically filled containers, these containers are used in revetments and groynes due to their large size and high stability, even under the harshest of conditions. These containers typically weigh 4,500 - 5,000kg and require specialist equipment.
Mega containers are made to order for specific uses including reefs, breakwaters and bund structures. These structures are filled hydraulically using dredges, sand or jet pumps. The size of this type of container is only limited by handling and installation limits.
Developed over the last 25 years, ELCOMAX® 800R and 1200R material used for the standard range of ELCOROCK® containers consists of our highly durable non woven, needle punched staple fibre geotextiles.
Enhanced filtration combined with resistance to abrasion and UV damage makes this material ideal for coastal applications. This material represents the most advanced selection of soil stabilisation and coastal engineering solutions available to a design engineer.
The ELCOMAX® 809RP and 1209RP vandal deterrent composite geotextile consists of a standard inner geotextile with a coarse fibre geotextile bonded by needle punching to the outer surface; the coarse outer layer allows sand to be trapped within the geotextile and this trapped sand provides protection from knife cuts. It is important that the outer layer is correctly bonded to the inner layer as poor bonding will allow stripping of the outer layer and loss of protection of the container. The coarse outer layer is sand coloured which offers improved aesthetics and extends the life of the containers.
These containers have been used in exposed Australian conditions for over 10 years.
