Severe tropical cyclone Yasi made landfall on the Queensland coast on February 3rd 2011. The category 5 cyclones’ began crossing the Queensland coast between Cardwell and Innisfail. Wind gusts estimated to have reached 290km/h helping create a storm surge estimated to have been 7m, severly destroying property and infrastructure. . . .
